I've been giving some loving to a derelict 1978 N/A, and she's becoming a nice car. I swapped the rotten rear muffler last week, thought it'd be "done" but the original front (Borla, I think) muffler has fractured. No catalytic con. on this unit. I'm thinking I'm missing the backpressure (and the relative quiet). Straight pipe to the rear muffler, find a similar sized tube front muffler, install a CAT? Any other suggestions, with thanks.

Well, if you have to go through emissions, a cat is a good idea. If you don't, then something like a Dynomax Ultra-Flow (oversized glasspack) might help reduce the noise without impacting back pressure. Given how poorly the head flows on that car, don't worry too much about back pressure. _________________ Stefan
