That little hole underneath the gas cap seems to have clogged over the years and no longer drains. Tried using some cue tips and pipe cleaner to clean it out but it only goes down so far. The metal piece that seems to work as a spout has rusted.
Where does it drain to? And is there a replacement for that metal spout or is it permanently attached to the body?
Thanks

The metal at the bottom of the hole is welded to the backside of the quarter panel. There are also some metal pipes that are part of the vapor recovery system that are permanently attached to the inside of the quarter panel that cannot be removed.
Unfortunately the quarter panels were revised from time to time, and all of the older versions are no-longer in production. If you are lucky you might be able to find an older quarter panel in stock at Porsche, or if you haunt body shops that specialize in Porsches, you might find a correct queater that the shop only used a portion of, that they might be willing to sell you.
Someone else started a thread a couple of days ago asking where the hoses from the sunroof go after they Tee with the hose from the gas overflow. The only place that I could think of is the drain on the right side saddlebag (storage area under the carpet on the side). Either that or the drain must attach to the vapor recovery crow's nest on the inside of the Quarter panel. You can't force debris down the drain, and I would not recommend stuffing a super stiff wire down the drain because of the risk of puncturing the aged and weakened rubber drain hoses. You could try carefully inserting a relative flexable wire down the drian line and squigging it around to see what happens (3-6 feet?). The q-tip that you tried was way too short to do any good. |

I had to go through this exercise on my 924S recently. The large rubber gasket around the filler neck has a small drain in the bottom that is connected to a short piece of metal hose, and that is connected to some plastic drain pipe. The drain pipe goes down into the right side rear well ("saddlebag") behind the rear wheel. The drain exits the rear well area to the underside of the car and onto the ground under the tranny.
I think Gohim's suggestion of reaming the hose with a piece of wire will work. My problem invloves reconnecting the drain hose to the filler cap gasket.
FYI - I do not have a sunroof.
