Does anyone know if there is a company that makes a straight pipe that replaces the catalytic converter for a 78 924? I don't have to deal with an emissions check and I believe that my converters plugged. Any ideas?

Yeah - I called AutoMotion - but they only list one for 1980 to 1983 - nothing for a 1978. Any other ideas?

Did the '78 have a cat?

Yeah - the 78 has a converter on it. I found a converter for an 80-82 and it looks like it will fit my 78- but they do list a different one for the 77-79. Anybody know if they are interchangeable?

Same part as a 75-79 VW Rabbit since they both use the same cat.

If I was going to replace my cat with a pipe, I'd take a measurement of the length, take it to my local Midas and ask them to cut me a piece to replace it with and clamp it in. Then I'd put my old cat in a corner under the work bench to keep, in case I needed to put it on for inspection purposes, after I'd gutted the inside. I wouldn't tell the Midas guys what the pipe was for.

If I was to do it.....which, of course, I never would.
