I am looking for a good preformance tire. My car wont see any snow once these are on, just wet/dry summer driving. I have looked into the following....
BF Goodrich traction T/A 205/60/14 $480
Nexen n2000 205/60/14 $490
Falken Azenis 195/60/14 $560
Riken Raptor 195/60/14 $460
I have the 8 spoke forged alloy wheels, 6 inch width.
Has anyone tried any of these tires? Has anyone heard of Riken? The Rikens looked really agressive I want something that is really sticky, dont care about tread life. Any help would be wicked!!!! _________________ '80 924 M471,Wideband O2, Full coilover susp,23/19 sways,Bilstiens,KLA Strut Brace,Roll Bar,Test Pipe,BBS RS, Willwood BBK

Toyo wouldn't be a bad one to consider, if they've got something in your size.
I can't say much good for that BFG - not exactly a hi-performance tire. I had a set of BFG G-Force KDWS's, very fast, but very harsh.
Have a set of Sumitomos on the 931 now, softer than what you'd want, but thats also what I wanted, and I'm pretty happy with them.
I do seem to be hearing nice things about Falkens recently, might be a good choice, but then not cheap. _________________ Vaughan Scott

I always liked BFGs as they last long and seem to have good grip, but as 924racr stated they aren't the most high perf tire. These seem ok on my 924.
On the 968 I have Toyos; they are nice and sticky but not as soft a compound as say Good Years of similar style so they last a bit longer.
just my opinion of course. _________________ Rick

The yoko's i got a quote for are the AVS 195/60/14. They wanted $200 a tire I bet they are a great tire but Im a poor student who cant really afford that right now.
How much difference would there be from a 195 compared to a 205 (other than 10mm, beat you to it!). For spirited street driving and maybe the occasional auto-x (one day), would I really notice a difference in grip? I realize the 205's would be heavier at lower speeds but i wouldnt mind bigger arms _________________ '80 924 M471,Wideband O2, Full coilover susp,23/19 sways,Bilstiens,KLA Strut Brace,Roll Bar,Test Pipe,BBS RS, Willwood BBK

I love my Yokies. . .great all around tire. Good at the track, decent rain traction, great out on the windies. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Didn't mean to sound like the BFGs are bad, I still use them with out issue, (good price, work well) it's just that the others IMO are better for high speed driving. _________________ Rick

I have Yokohama's on my NA and love 'em. I have Kumho's on my 928 and they're great as well. In fact, I'm considering a set of the Kumho's for the 924S. They are very difficult to beat in terms of bang for the buck. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
