Does anyone know when this piece was introduced? PET seems to indicate 84, but I'm wondering if it will fit an 81? How different are the hood release mechanisms? In particular the mounting points for the handle..?
The reason I'm looking at this is that with my new carpet the hood release handle doesn't return to its normal position by itself - I figure this piece would help by removing the handle away from the carpet...

I replaced the original hood opening handle with the hardware from a 944 and used the plastic cup you've shown. But you have to replace the handle and the cable connects differently, IIRC. Not hard to find the entire assembly. Check ebay. Good luck. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

Thanks guys,
I assume then the 928 cable is the same as the 944? Any changes at the hood lock end?

Think they are all the same. Since the hood latches are the same, the only variable would be the lenght of the cable.

Just to confirm,
The Plastic cup, cover and handle are the same on the 928 and 944 IIRC.
I will have a peep at the 928 later today and will check the 924 tomorrow to let you know if the hood lock end connect in the same way.
Actually, give me 2 hours or so and I will post a pic of the cable attached on the lock end of the 928.

Hey buddy..
Here is a pic of the hood release end.
They are the same.. as dpw928 said the only difference would be the length of the cable, but you could work with that.. _________________ When the checkered flag drops... The Bull$hit Stops
