I knew about the 924 break/stationwagon or whatever you call it but this one I haven't seen before.

Nicely made

The front fenders look like a 944, probably a one off custom.

Looks like bits of Golf in the rear end... It's even more VW than before!

Nice conversion.

Should have left it as it was, though!

I remember reading and seeing this before. Something like a factory job for someone's wife - she wanted the performance/name of Porsche but needed a grocery getter. I think there was something eluding to the fact that the conversion used a Volkswagon Fox's ass to build the wagon/estate part of the conversion.
(all being pulled from memory, I waive any responsibility to this being actual fact or any perception of me pulling this from my ass)

Done by DP Tuning, the base is a 944, about 10 conversions were done, there was an article in Excellence not long ago about one.

Yep, from: http://www.pestalozzi.net/sb/porsche_cargo944/index.html
Quote:
Between 1988 and 2003 DP Motorsport converted seven Porsche 944 into superfast wagons. With its fiberglass and steel tube modifications, the Cargo is even stiffer than the production 944.
