They sure look similar, and I would love to ditch the flimsy/broken VW "477" parts.

P.S. If the answer is YES, and you have these items for sale, please advise.

I did it just few weeks ago since mine were shot. They are direct swap (together with surrounding frames) and look much more robust.

Don't have any "before" pics but they looked like....broken and facing downwards

I could take "after" pics tomorrow morning.

I used the vents out of the 87 924S and put them in my 81, look much nicer, I also used the dash and center consule, with minor mods to make the heater control work.

These are from a late '82, so should be same as the flimsy 924S and early 944s..

Right side dash vent still mostly intact (this is what they look like just before falling apart) -

-and a right side vent (this is what they look like just after falling apart) -

That one got way more sun and UV because of the way the car is parked. It had a crack, I removed it to fix, and it disintegrated in my hands with each gentle touch.. Nice to know the early ones fit though. -But then again, I'd need one in brown.

-And a later version center vent still intact (obviously can't say the same for the dash itself) -

I had the ones like Smoothie posted ('83) but the ones from 944 were different, with fatter vanes.

Red's (an S) is stout, with a 944 part number. Shaggy's is a flimsy floppy VW (477) part.

Ok, I had that bassackwards then.
So for vents, I wound up with the earlier flimsy 477- stuff, and later 944- parts would be tougher..
