anyone know off the top of their head the size and pitch of the bolts that hold on the rear alternator bracket (78 NA)
one of mine mine dropped out, taking the alternator ground strap with it, and its sort of important that i put it back on.

Hang on steeny.
There are 2 types of top rear bracket. The one Leadfoot and probably Ozzie has is made from folded 3mm sheet metal. The one you have is the cast aluminium type and is 8-10mm thick IIRC.
With a washer and/or split washer under the head there will be insufficient thread with a 18mm bolt. Which you wont get unless you go genuine. 20 is standard but get a 25mm. Sure I`m using 25 on the thinner bracket anyway (with flat and star washer) as it is preferable to use the longest possible bolt. Get a 25mm and even though its a PITA screw it in without the washer and check it doesnt bottom out. Then fit the washer and tighten up.
Standard coarse thread M8 is 1.25 pitch.
