|
|
| I am hoping someone here can help me. I have a 1987 924S w/ 4 cyl engine. I just found out that I need a new clutch assembly, so far the quote is around 3000-3500 for parts and labour, 12.5 hours labour to replace. Does anyone know where I can go to find a new clutch? I live in Kingston, Ontario Canada. I would prefer to buy north of the border if possible and relatively close to where I am. I don't know of anywhere to look and I know in the past getting parts has been difficult. Estimates on cost would help also. Thanks. |

You can get a complete clutch set from ebay for under 400 dollars. Labor is going to vary all over the place depending on were you are. You could always do it yourself. It is not that hard. Just involved. I would do it for you for 200 dollars labor, but I am in NC. IF you are at all mechanically inclined, you should give do-it-yourself a shot. _________________ 87 924s

Thanks guys. I would attempt to do it myself if i had access to my garage, however the neighbors are denying us access to the driveway and our garage. I cant even get into it to get at the stuff that is in there let alone put the car in. |

$3000-$3500 sounds high to me.
Be aware that you are going to need more than what comes in the Sachs Clutch Sets sold on eBay. In addition to the pressure plate, throwout bearing, and clutch disc, you will also need: (2) clutch fork bearings, a pilot bearing, rear main seal (and flywheel bolts), and possibly a clutch fork, and input shaft slider tube (they wear out).
The additonal parts are going to cost you $100-$150, depending on what you buy and where from.
Performance Products has a whole kit (I think it may be slightly overpriced as well) at $650-$700, if I remember correctly.
If joecitizennn is willing to install the clutch for your for $200 (that is dirt cheap), maybe you should fly him (pay for the airfare). |
