Battery acid travels from the battery to the battery tray, and out of the drain in the battery tray onto the battery wiring harness as it is located before the battery tray drain.
Battery acid gets into the battery wiring harness and eats to wires inside of their insulation, so the wires that goes to the alternator, and the starter motor get eaten up while th insulation still looks good.
I suggest that you get a voltmeter, and disconnect the battery leads from the battery and meter the wiring harness from the battery to the starter motor and the alternator.
I suspect that you will find that the wires between the alternator and the start have a high resistance, and the wire between the battery and the start has a VERY HIGH RESISTANCE. Whic will explain your problem with the starter motor working. |

Easy way to check switch and dash wiring - black and red wire at fuel pump relay is connected to starter circuit. Should have 12V there with switch in start position. If nothing then check switch (common problem) and all wiring. If there is power at the FPR then check at starter solenoid, easier from under with car on stands. This will indicate if it is a wiring or solenoid/starter problem, assuming that the rest of your wiring is OK and you have power to the switch.

thanks for the advice I checked the ign switch as its stated its a common problem (pretty easy to check) and same result . so I pulled the starter looked very hard but fund the bolts are easy to get to on the back and had out in no time had the starter bench tested and nothing not a click or any thing so i think I found the problem going to change the power wire to the starter and the others to (look terible) and hook back up them I can work on making it run . oh ya the teath on the starter were half shered off ! so I think this starter was having its problems flywhell looks good from were it is right now will check it more later , glad I have a mint starter lying around from my old audi , let you all know how its going layer , Nat . _________________ I reject your reality and subsitute my own ... |
