Hi Guys,
What's the purpose of this fuel pipe and plastic fitting that goes across the top of the tank?
thanks,

Do you have a high-res version of that pic? I'm wondering if mine looks the same. _________________ -1977 924, 4-Spd...Gone

The plastic tube functions as an expansion tank. Whether it's absolutely necessary I've wondered about as it is not very much larger than the same length of hose. _________________ John

I had mine out last year and if it was cracked it would just have been a fuel line going across there. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

I have a feeling that the hoses connected to that plastic tube are leaking on my car...I am guessing I will have to drop the tank to replace those lines? _________________ -1977 924, 4-Spd...Gone

I can smell raw fuel from time to time on a full tank. I know that my sending unit is not leaking because i have lifted the cover when the smell was strong and looked at it. It was dry. If a 1987 924S has the above setup, that may be my problem. _________________ 87 924s

No- I did mine without removing the tank- look in the how-to section.
Cutting a hole is drastic but it worked. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

It is very easy to remove the tank.
You just have to remove the transmission and drop the exhaust first. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA
