I need a driver side motor mount. However, porsche has discontinued them. I know vibra-technics has an aftermarket one. But does anyone have one or know where I can get a nicely used one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cant wait for the car to finally be on the road again after its 15yr nap. _________________ '80 924 M471,Wideband O2, Full coilover susp,23/19 sways,Bilstiens,KLA Strut Brace,Roll Bar,Test Pipe,BBS RS, Willwood BBK

Hi Brockoli,
You should be able to pick one up at a breakers yard over there, your lucky its the LHS one, as finding a RHS one with the spring still in good shape was impossible for me..
There is a set up on ebay right now, which is for both LHS and RHS, might be a good option and it will also give you a nice spare for if/when the LHS one dies..
Here it is:

Hope that helps,

On this subject...
If Vibra-Technics offer the one part to replace both left and right mounts, surely it then stands to reason that the original Porsche LHS mount will fit both sides too. So why not replace the steel RHS with a rubber LHS one...?
Or have I got that wrong? _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

When I replaced mine i noticed the studs were different distances apart.
not sure if this is normal. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Allooo,
Ill clear up that question later today for you, ill go down and measure the two original mounts and let you know the distances
Ill also measure up the Vibra-Tech mount and post the distances of that too.. Should clear up any questions on the engine mounts

Here are the measurments as promised..
All measurments are from the middle of the bolt to the other middle of the bolt:
Vibra-Tech Mount: 70mm
LHS Original Mount: 68mm
RHS Original Mount: 70mm
Looks like you could use a LHS mount on the RHS if needed, unless there is a techincal reason why this would not be a good idea (none come to mind)

There's too much heat for the soft LHS mount rubber, hence the spring in OEM application.
Vibratech uses different rubber compound that tolerates it much better. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

My dad had an idea to cut rubber strips and place them in the holes in the mount so that the oil pan does not hit the cross member. We tried this and it worked. I just have to figure a way out so that they do not vibrate loose. Im thinking about glue/bolts to hold the rubber strips in place. Cars not on the road yet so I dont know if this is just a band aid or somewhat of a permanent fix. I used really 3/4'' rubber truck mud flaps. We'll see how it works out. i figure worth a try, I'll definetly know if the pan is hitting!!!! _________________ '80 924 M471,Wideband O2, Full coilover susp,23/19 sways,Bilstiens,KLA Strut Brace,Roll Bar,Test Pipe,BBS RS, Willwood BBK
