So the clutch went out (actually it was the throw out bearing) on my 924 N/A a few weeks ago. On the weekend I finally pulled the transmission to start the process of getting to the clutch.
I opened up the dust cover on the transmission bell housing and found a bunch of shredded up paper looking shit:
So. . . there was quite a bit of that stuff in there:
It turns out there was a mouse living in there at some point. I'm going to guess it was way back when the car was abandoned in a field in 1997:
Oh. there were 2 mice
Awwwww How cute.
So aside from the mouse setback, I got the transmission out without any major trouble. Theres never a dull moment with this car. lol

lol. A friend of mine always makes fun of me for working on my car with no shoes. I live in southern California. It was in the high 70s(F) on the weekend. It is cooling down though. Not supposed to be as warm this weekend.
so where's this pic of the guy working on the 931 with no shoes? _________________ 1980 Porsche 924 N/A USA

And a pair of steel cap boots!
Personally though I`m no barefoot hippy. Usually wear thongs here in Oz, and get my share of cut and bruised feet too.

Thanks for the much needed clarification, but unfortunately the mental image was already set. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

My knowledge of the rate of decay of mice is probably not the best. I was just guessing because in 1997 I bought the car from a guy who had it abandoned in field of weeds and stuff. Since 1998 It's been driven around almost every day. I don't think mice would have had a time or place when they could have made such a nice home in there. :-]
Maybe they were powering the car instead of the engine, and when they died, I noticed that my clutch was bad. _________________ 1980 Porsche 924 N/A USA
