Hey i am changing out the bushings for the linkage on the tranny side. i am having a hrad time getting that pin in the coupler out, is there a trick to it or do u just drive it out of there

Took me a minute, till I saw you have a 79! You're talking about the u-joint near the trans, with the large (10mm OD?) pin? Yes, that needs to be driven out, tap it out with a ball peen hammer. The center is wider than the ends (which helps contribute to the slop in the shifter).

thanks. i cut a hole in the floor and found, surprise surprise, no bushing left at all. replacement ended up being pretty easy and man is that shifter crisp now, what a difference

i can't really get a pic right now i am back at college a couple hundred miles from my car . i cut the hole starting a couple inches up on the the hump as it inclines and it went down to the fortified part of the floor right before where the carpet starts
