I picked up a turbo for a small sum of like 40 bucks about 6 years ago. It is a RayJay (?sp) model is a B1 I believe. I haven't looked at this turbo for probably 4 years it has been sitting on a shelf in a friends garage. Just wondering if anyone has ever dealt with one or knows anything about them. If I can make it over to his house I'll pick it up and take some snap shots of it.
Later,

Hey did a little research, RAYJAY makes turbos for airplanes back in the 70-80s
Off of a webpage,
Rayjay turbos were an old, not particularly effecient turbo based on old designs. They were purchased by Consolidated Fuel Systems recently, howvwer, they are only continuing the aircraft line. Parts are getting hard to get a hold of for the old units. As far as being better than a stock KKK, it's debatable. The reason they did not need a wastegate was because it did not build much boost down low- a sign of an inefficient turbo or poorly designed kit. A turbo that spools up quickly will give you lots of torque down low, but will definetely need a waste gate to control overboosting at high rpms. _________________ Rebuild COMPLETED, Many mods, better power, Just ask for info |

My only experience with Rajay was a very brief one before it blew its seals and left me lingering in a big cloud of smoke. Cant remember now if the parts were either not available, too expensive, the company is out of business, or if it just plain wasnt worth putting money into a POS.
Whatever, its been sitting in a cardboard box in mum`s back shed for longer than yours. Maybe one day I`ll pull it out and see if I can get any more beers for it on ebay than the scrap metal yard will give me.
