Check out these pics. This was one of those fun, low effort projects that looks good and makes a big difference with the car.

Feel good stuff for a car junkie!

Oh, and I know the rear bushes are backwards. . .I figured that out PRIOR to installation (this time).

YAY!

P.S. Those rotted bushings developed thusly:
  • PS resevoir has clamps that eventually leak and were superceded by different clamps.
  • Red starts leaking here, PO decides adding fluid is better than $1.00 clamp.
  • Ignoring the manual in the glovebox, PO puts in lots and lots of power steering fluid (instead of ATF)
  • Power steering fluid eats the seals in the rack, the rack boots, and the passenger side control arm and sway bar bushings.
D'OH!

Before you reinstall those control arms and get an alignment you may want to consider removing the front (crossmember) poly bushings and replace them with delrin. The control arms front to back movemebt is going to destroy that poly bushing in no time. Racers Edge sells a kit for $100 for the front bushings, but you may be able to find delrin for a rabbit a lot cheaper. I think I saw them on a VW site for $35 and they should be the same.

Already installed. I need to replace the pathetic Weltmeisters on my 931, I will look into Delrin for that.

Thanks!

They look like your car will handle a bit better and retain the camber setting.
So the S control arms are the same as other 924s which are early rabbit (golf here).

Do you have a price and a source for the bushes you used?

The company was Prothane, and the bushing set was $22 at my local VW speed shop. . .ask for Golf Mark I.
