Hello all,

I've posted about this in the past.
http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=22122&highlight=

Well I've looked around and to have the job done at a shop is a wee bit expensive!!!! So now I must ask you all, what am I getting myself into to do this work myself? I do not have experience with rebuilding a car but am very mechanically adept. The other post give you a good description of the car itself. It has sat motionless for the last 18-20 years i think, indoors.

I have seen a lot of you have done this and I really want to give it a try so, tell me, what will I be getting myself into?

If you need anymore info, please ask, I'm here to learn as much as possible.

Adam
Medford, MA

P.S. I will also be looking for 924 owners in my area that might be able to give me some pointer/help!!! I'm a brewer so the beer will always be provide.

you need to get your hands dirty. First check what condition she's in. Does she start up?

Chances are that if she's been sat inside that she'll have fared quite well, but there's always the rubbers/seals/belts etc that will need attention.

good news is that (assuming I'm right on this) as she's not a turbo there's very little harm you can do by turning the key. The belts will need replacing but if they do break its not the end of the world. EDIT: my assumption is that she's not a turbo, if she is, the belts are more crucial.

so, get out there and start her up??

if she doesn't start, check there's a spark and fuel and get back to us!

and pictures, we need pictures, STAT!!!

"I'm a brewer so the beer will always be provide."

I like the sound of that

I'm just down the road near Harvard. If the weather holds out, I could stop up this weekend and have a look. As long as you have space and tools to do the work, nothing on the 924na is too terrible of a job. And generally, not painfully expensive. Although, I don't know what shape yours is in either!

Send me a pm with your address so I can see where you're at. The 931 is immobile at the moment while I'm waiting to replace some oil lines so I'll probably just run up on the motorcycle.

Cheers
nick

ps- I wouldn't even think about starting it until the fuel is drained and clean fuel has run through all the lines

Thanks for the responses guys. Actually, as of right now, the car is located in CT. It will, sometime soon, be put on a flatbed and brought up to Boston. Hopefully the brakes aren't seized too bad and she'll roll.

I grew up riding in this car, my mom got it when I was five, really looking forward to driving her!!

If you get it up here I'll be able to give you a good idea what things will look like for restoration. Just let me know.
