Already my 3 post
OK my plan :
1)I want to grind the piston hole about to 2-3mm larger making my 2.0 engine to about 2.2 L
2) Put chromed pistons from OPEL VECTRA from I guess form 1995
3) puting 4 Weber Carburetors on
4) geting a direct exaust
5) and putting a cone air filter on
6) using fenon oil frum russia
7) grinding the motor head and putting it 1mm lower, so getin a biger compression
there was something more but i cant remember :/
i hope to gain about 70hp
sorry for my english not so good at technical stuff :p _________________ Porscheeeee |

3) puting 4 Weber Carburetors on
Did you mean 2? Never seen 4 Webers on a 924.
5) and putting a cone air filter on
With the Webers? Why not just trumpet socks?
7) grinding the motor head and putting it 1mm lower, so getin a biger compression
Do you mean taking down the head or the top of the engine block? There is no combustion chamber in the head, so that will have no effect on compression. You can increase compression by taking down the top of the engine block, but it may screw up the tensioning of your timing belt if you don't add an adjustable cam sprocket.
If you're replacing pistons anyway, you might as well get them custom to the compression ratio you want so you don't have to take material off the block. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

There are many people on this board who have done performance mods on the 924 NA. Use the "Search" function above to read about their efforts.
70 HP may not be realistic. . .as the people in the other thread stated, the 924 is not a drag car, it is a classic, comfortable, great handling touring car. . . _________________ Toofah King Bad

Unless you design engines for a living, I'd say don't bother - all you'll end up with is a huge bill from buying parts and then when it comes time to put all that together, stuff won't fit right...I don't think that there's any way the Opel pistons could possibly fit, even if they were designed for a 2.2l engine.
If you really want to spend a lot of money on hp for this particular car (which is something that many consider to be a waste of money), JE high compression pistons will raise your compression ratio a bit and the head can be decked to also raise compression ratio. With weber carbs and porting and polishing on the head and a freer exhaust, you might see some gains, but i don't think anybody is getting 70hp extra out of these engines... _________________ '87 924 S - No sunroof and a few modifications |

Only way your getting 70 hp is with forced induction, just ask applebit.

Mild cam, 2 45 DCOEs Weber, headers, euro pistons maxed out at about 130-135HP. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

I think the most powerful here in the UK must have been Dave Dennett's hillclimb car which made a genuine 165bhp. It had 11.5:1, 2.4 conversion with Piper Cam and Lumenition....so a loooong way off being cheap and simple!!
Cheers
Simon
PS He always thought it could do nearer 180bhp with a bit more work...remember he was not using the turbo head...... _________________ Blown is always best! |
