|

I have a '77 924.
The previous owner put big tires on the car - 235/60R14s - which is fine in the back, but on the front end potholes, driveway lips, and other bumps can cause the tire to dig into the fender - especially if the wheels are turned. I have stiff suspension and drive cautiously to avoid it happening as much as I can, but alas I need to replace one of them due to numerous punctures so I'm planning on putting a new pair on the front. Does anybody have any suggestions for sizes I might use to replace the fronts? I see the manual says 185/70HR14s, but I was hoping not to size down that far and want to keep them in proportion to the backs so the car doesn't look goofy. What do you have that has worked well or what suggestions would you make?
I'm going to leave the big ones on the back for now - mostly because I can't afford to get 4 new tires right now, but also because there's not really anything wrong with them. Might size them down to match the fronts in the future, might keep them bigger - undecided at this point.
I should probably also mention that this is just a summer weekend car - so it won't be out on wet/snowy roads.
Your input is appreciated. Thanks! |

I need back tyres.
Fronts are currently 185 70 14's
I'm thinking 205 70 14's at the rear for the fatboy look. Or is there another 70 that is wider that will work without wrecking handling?

Steve, I would go 195/65 for better balance. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Larger rear tires will cause more understeer, the car's stock suspension is setup for the same sized tire on all four corners. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

If stock is the same, stock it will be. H rated at £29 each I cannot complain.
Thanks for the advice.
