hey all,
Ok, what would you include if you were building a 924 into a true GT? Im not talking about a carrera gt conversion mind you, but more of a cross country rally build. something you can drive several thousand miles, on public roads, and be fast, comfortable, and safe in, thats still reliable. more of the 928 concept, applied to the 924 or 931. mixed terrain, but mostly normal roads. to help you picture what im trying to get at, think of a 5,000 mile , street legal road rally, set up for accurate time between a multitude of check points(with penalties for being to quick, or to slow), not necessarily speed, through varied climates, road conditions, temperatures, and altitudes..
what parts would you beef up (strengthening control arms, body stiffeners, ect?)
what electronics would you add or change?
seats?
where would you loose weight?
drive train mods? keeping in mind reliability is required above all.
how would you set the car up, so it can be as reliable, comfortable, and as effective as a new car ?
money is an object, the goal is to have the best setup possible, for as little cash outlay as possible, but not sacrificing anything that could be a major factor in achieving the goal.
discuss... _________________ Eric

Hmm, I think maybe a list of everyyhing about the 924 that is "unreliable" would be a good start. I would probably start with a 931 rather than a 924 just for the bigger brakes and sufficiant power. Aside from making everything mechanical "good" about the only mods might be better seats and a good set of adjustable Koni's or Bilstiens.

I'd throw some cgt body work on it
951 suspension/brakes
951 trans
megasquirt fuel/ignition
front mount
up boost
strip interior, lay down some simple carpet, good seats.
Enjoy. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |
