How well does a 951 radiator fit in a 931? What mods are needed? _________________ 1981 931 (Concours)

| I fitted one to my car. You need to modify the hoses slightly and make adaptor plates to secure it to the landing panel. I had it sitting slightly further back as I had an intercooler in front of it. It is a far better rad. |

Any pictures or descriptions of your "adapter plates"? I'm getting ready to do the same in my 924. I am most interested in how you mounted the plates. Rivots? welding? straps? glue!?

I no longer have the car but I used 6mm alloy which was riveted to the rad and screwed with self tappers to the landing panel. Once you get the rad, you can see it is not that hard. I also used a pacet fan which was thinner and more powerful.
Here are old pics on cardomain of the car.

A couple good pictures of your setup there. They should give the ideas I need to go forward. Thanks.
Nice car by the way! Too bad you don't still have it.

Hey Tigger937,
I'm gonna take some pictures of my install and post them in the How-To section. I'm sure my way of doing this wont be the best way but it may spawn some other ways for others if you post some pictures of your setup too when you get to it.

Not sure just how long that will be as I'm still contemplating just how far to take this thing. At this point, I'm still leaning toward the Al radiator as it's about the same cost wise after taking the cost of a 951 unit + recore into account. Plus it'll be a direct bolt-in and I can go a little thicker too to increase efficiency even further. I've got my rebuilt turbo and EM ready to pop back in, but I'm really like'n the Garrett BB route ala Joakims' setup right now and this seems like it might be a good time to do it. _________________ 1981 931 (Concours)
