The last time I owned a 924 was over 12 years ago and I feel the need to clean the injectors of the one I have just got.
as memory serves, the best way was to empty the fuel filter, after warming up the engine, fill the filter with injection cleaner and run the car immediately.
Am I correct? _________________ Steve

I don't know where you are writing from (hint, hint) but in my town there is a rebuilding service that will clean/recondition injectors cheap.
If you want it to be done right, and last another 20 years, that might be the best way to go. _________________ Toofah King Bad

The only way to clean these injectors is to blow something- eg cleaner, thru them.
They cannot be stripped down.
If they have any crap in them then it is unlikely to come out unless it is dissolved. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Pretty much agree. I've heard of people blocking the pintel open and blowing pressurized air/cleaner backward through the injector. I've tried this myself a few times with limited success. If it's dirt trapped between the filter and the pintel, your best bet is probably to try and blow the air/cleaner forward through the injector with the pintel blocked open. Maybe spray it onto a clean white cloth so you can see any dirt that exits.
Porsche recommended Chevron Techron works great for cleaning the fuel system/injectors/intake deposits.
Also, I've noticed that approx. 5mm from the pintel end of the injectors there is an assembly seam and approx. 5mm further up are 4 dimples that look like they are used to secure the pintel assembly into the injector body. Never tried it, but I wonder if there is a way to disassemble without damaging the unit. Anyone tried this? _________________ 1981 931 (Concours)

I would expect this join to be a one-time interference fit. I suspect the force required to separate it would destroy the injector.
A CIS-aware friend of mine reccommends filling the injector (out if the car) with injector/carb cleaner and blowing it out with compressed air. The pintel will open at about 35 psi, iirc, and allow the cleaner to spray out. Several applications may be necessary. _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

I did exactly that with my old ones.
Used a general purpose solvent and flushed it thru with compessed air. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA
