the car looses spark, and dies after a few moments.
my Indi thinks the crank triger is going, he will be removing the pice and checking the wires going to it, he says the wires fail more than the unit itself.
he has done a preliminary serch, and hasn't had much luck, if the unit is bad, where can I find another one and how much is this going to cost me? |

If it starts again after stalling it might be the ignition switch. Cheap fix. They go all the time and are rarely detected. Of course there are other reasons for stalling including low idle. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

it starts losing spark after about 45 sec. popping backfireing loading up etc
then it floods because of no spark, dead for a day, untill it dries out...
he put the timing light in it and it starts to loose spark after a bit |

If it is the reference sensor for the DITC you are somewhat screwed. They are no longer available, and there are at least 2 other people I know of looking for them.
I sold one a few months ago to a board member, and it got them back on the road, but I only had it because I'm doing EFI on the car. If you do find one expect to pay a decent price for it. They are only used on the 81 82 931 as far as I know so good luck. |

yep, thats the one he thinks is going, but the guy is quite smart, and is seeing if it is the wire or not, also he has addapted other reference sensors from other cars to work.....if he can, I will let you know what he used
wish me luck |

Also quite possible that the connectors at the DITC are corroded... I've suffered quite a bit from this problem... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Isn't the reference sensor more of a go/no-go part? - meaning it either works or it doesn't and you shouldn't be running for 45secs or any amount of time, then not running because of it. I'd be looking more at the fuel system - make sure the csv is shutting off, the wur is getting power and providing the right control pressure, etc. A rich enough mix will stop the plugs from firing and it looks like that's what's happening. A way rich mix will leave it both flooded and not sparking and so explains it all. -While a reference sensor problem might leave you with no spark, it can't be causing it to flood. _________________ "..it's made in Germany.
