It's hard to determine what the value of the car is without more information. 924S cars trade hands for anywhere between $200-$5000 U.S.
Depending on the condition and originality of the expensive to repair and maintain systems, like the body, interior, dashboard, engine, clutch, fuel injection, and transmission.
The front of engine service is a major cost ($1500-$2500) that has to be performed every 30K miles or 3 years, whichever comes first. Take some time and do some research on this message board and others to see what is involved. The procedure takes specialized tools that the average mechanic does not own, and the knowledge and experience to use the tools.
Does your "friend" (who is selling the car) own these tools, know what is invloved, take the car to another mechanic to get the work done, or is he clueless (says that the service is not critical, expensive or necessary). Knowing the answer to this/these questions is going to affect whether his car is a $500 example or a $3000 example (the fact that he has altered it already drops it out of the $3500-$5000 range IMHO).
A $3000 924S has a good clean body, a current low mileage/low time front of engine service, and is in good drivable condition (no bald tires, rust, or broken glass, etc... or other major expenses necessary to be driveable). |

| yes he would have all of these tools and has done all his own repairs. I have seen him build a bunch of engines. And do all the necessary repairs. I know that the one thing that bothers him the most is driving a car that is in poor running condition. |
