I was painting a customers 74 ford truck that I restored ...just finished putting down 6 coats of base coat (low hiding color) and had 4 liters of clear mixed.... ready to spray. I was about to start on the roof of the truck when the top of my paint gun popped off. (I couldn't have put it on tight enough) That spilled clear all down over the side of the cab corner, and drivers door.
What a mess! I tried to wipe it off quickly..but the solvents in the clear are too aggresive and washed the basr coat off So I had over $100.00 worth of clear that had to be sprayed. So I cleared the rest of the truck anyway.
It's just frustrating when you try to get everything perfect and you mess something up by not taking care. Now hopefully today I can get the truck ready to redo the door and cab corner. Hopefully the fresh paint won't wrinkle when I try to paint over it and hopefully I can get the paint to match! Fun fun.

Why does Canada have to be so huge? I wish you were closer to me, it would be nice to have a 924 guy to redo my paint and body work. I'd rather pay someone who likes the cars to do it. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

It's only a 4 day drive... make it a road trip. We could drink beer and really mess the paint job up! _________________ 1976 924

I still think I'd rather go through Canada! So 4 days there, 4 days back, plus how many days for for us to do body work and paint while drunk? _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Google's time estimate is based on non-stop driving. It works out to averaging 100 km/h non-stop.
I can only assume that Google determines the shortest distance traveled, so staying in Canada is likely a longer journey (since we have fewer roads, they tend to attempt to join with more towns on the way).
So, driving 12 hour days averaging 100 km/h, that'd be 5 days each way, plus time to do the job according to the Google distance. Probably 15 days in total.
Add to that gas, lodging, food, materials, beer, and you're looking at quite a tab. Let's assume 22 mpg, that works out to around 644 litres of gas. Around here, the stuff I put in my tank is around $1.30 / litre (probably more -- it's $1.185 / litre for the cheap stuff, and I put in 94 octane or it pings), so that's around $840 in gas one way, or $1700 in gas for a two-way trip, not to mention the beer tab!
Sounds like fun, but I thought we all had '24's since we was cheap! _________________ 78 924 NA
