hey all, anyone have some pictures of where to cut under the rear seat to fix the shift linkage? if so can you send them to me or post them on here so I can see them. I just don't want to drop the exhaust and transaxle to get to them. I know its the rear joint loose and people have said to use parts from a 914 from performance products to fix the slop. if you can guys, help me out.

thanks a lot

Please just repair this properly. Yes, it's a pain, but it doesn't leave you with chunks cut out of the unibody.

Chances are good that both the bushings are bad if you suspect one of them. The bushing that pops onto the torque tube can be replaced without pulling the torque tube out. Same with the 914 bushings (search here for the part number) on the other shift rod. You'll need to remove the entire shift rod to that runs into the trans in order to replace the 914 bushings - the pin that holds them in is a very tight press fit. I'm not sure it can be done using this hack&cut sheetmetal method anyway.
