81 924 Turbo. Went to start her and the belt snapped. I bought a new belt and put it on. Set everything to tdc. It now knocks and the idle is horrible. So bent valve? What is the time and amount I would probably have to spend on this mess?
And from what I read, its a lot of work to put a 79 n/a 924 head on my car? Because I have a free one, if its not. _________________ 81 924 turbo |

Man that's bad news!
Yes you have at the least bent some valves, so you will need to pull the head again and determine the damage.
Usually 3 to 5 valves will need to be replaced if no piston, head, or cylinder damage has happened. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Having been a past expert at timing belt problems, you have most definitely bent some valves.
Look to spend between 300-600 possibly more(although never in my case) for parts depending on what could be damaged. The valves are kinda expensive. This will also be a good time to check for cam shaft wear and lifter wear. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

To my knowledge, the two heads are not interchangeable.
Sorry to hear about the damage. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

Well I need new tires, seats, shocks/struts, shift boot, door locks, ball joints, and hatch struts. So is this a scrap job? Anyone need parts? I just bought 944 rims for it. I had it running for one day. Just put in the new head gasket. Polished and painted everything. This is frustrating. _________________ 81 924 turbo |

For you. Take I-80 until you get to the first exit into IL. I live in Port Byron, IL. The "quad cities area". _________________ 81 924 turbo |

I'd like to fix it. I love the car. I'm just not sure if its worth the cost/ time. _________________ 81 924 turbo |

I'd fix it, even if you had to put it off for a while.
But let me know if you're thinking about selling.
I'd hate to see another parted out. The problems you list aren't THAT expensive, in addition to the head work you'll need. Other than the seats, the prices for the other items are comparable to most cars. How is the transmission?
The expense comes from the "while you're in there" type of items you'll be tempted to do. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

The transmission seemed to be great. ALthough I only got to drive the car 8 miles. I got it from a friend who overheated it. I just got it running yesterday. I don't want to sell it, but I am moving in three weeks so it makes everything hard. Its just an extra expense I was definetely not prepared for. I'm going to sleep on it and figure out if I can pull it off. I love the look of these cars, and when I put on the 944 rims, I about wet myself! It looked so nice. Well thank you for the advice. _________________ 81 924 turbo |
