These three are in the corner of the engine bay closest to the driver:
As is this spade connector:
Any ideas as to what they are? _________________ Toofah King Bad

In the first pic those should be the "test connection" - Haynes pg. 264, current tracks 8+9 (if you have the same Haynes as I do). Normally they'd be in a round connector, but obviously that's been removed.
Second pic - What colors are on that wire? Red and ____ _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Red and black (if you clicky the picky it gets bigger).
What's the test connection for? To hook up to the big fancy machine at the dealer? _________________ Toofah King Bad

Yeah I guess. -But notice from the wiring diagram that the red wire is 12V+ always, so it should be better insulated - it looks a bit vulnerable as it is. The black wire it's said can be used with a dwell meter to read the frequency valves' duty cycle and set the air:fuel mix.
The bk/re wire is probably for the headlight washer you don't have. Look at Haynes pg. 260, current track 33.
There may also be a loose wt/ye wire in that same general area - that would be for foglights (pg. 258, current track 24). _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

I have actually used said connector for setting my air/fuel mix. The black is the positive and the brown is the negative for the dwell meter. It works great and gives you a good idea if the oxygen sensor system is working correctly.
I believe at one time there was actually a Bosch tester that used that plug and needed the red hot line for power.

I believe the other wiring may be for the hood light switch. My car came with the factory alarm system and I believe that it also ties into that switch. I have not tried to repair mine yet.

Geoff, that dwell meter procedure would be a stellar How-To. . . _________________ Toofah King Bad

In short form, set your dwell meter to 4 cyl.,
connect the appropriate wire (green on my dwell meter) to the black test connection wire (taking precautions not to short out to the red or brown wires). The meters' ground can go to any carbody or engine ground or to the brown wire.
Start the engine and look for the dwell meter to dance around 40-45 degrees if the air:fuel is correct.

Wow, and that is reflecting the percentage of time the freq. valve is open?
Veddy interesting.
Oh, and it sounds like I can just snip and shrink-wrap the red & brown wires? _________________ Toofah King Bad
