Is the 3 spoke steering wheel that came as an option on the 924 (and standard on the early 944) smaller than the original 2 sopke 924 steering wheel?

I believe all the 924/944 wheels are 380mm diameter except for the 4-spoke sport wheel which is 363mm. Not to be confused with the non-sport 4-spoke wheel, which looks identical!

Yep, my 3-spoke measures 380mm (~15") and it's offset by about 20mm, so you have a bit more legroom when it's aimed straight ahead.

So is there actually 2 sizes in the 4-spoke as well? One large (same size as the 2 spoke 924 wheel?) and one small (the sport 4 spoke?)...

Try PET. My printed parts listing shows a "foamed" 4-spoke wheel at 361mm and the "leather" 4-spoke at 363mm. Both types are referred to as "sport" (as is the 3-spoke).

Aah, that explains it.

I noticed my wheel was definately not concentric with the steering hub. I always assumed that they (Porsche) just didn't bother to worry about how round the manufacturing process made the wheel. I have good clearance going straight, but when turning the wheel hits my legs, and this is a leather wrapped 4 spoke Neil924 supplied to a previous owner of the car (Minus000).

So, not being round is intentional, not a manufacturing defect.

I solved the problem by installing a 4 way power seat from a 944. In the fully down position, it is lower than the standard seat. Anybody want it, it's green!!!

Pretty tough without power steering. I really liked the Momo wheel on my last 924S however.
