Hey there,

Just a quick Q this time,

My 76 924 has one of those oil gauges in the center console, im not sure if the previous owner just dumped it in there, but either way I was wondering if there is a way to connect it so it works

PS: can someone with an early 24 post a pic of their engine bay please. Just need to check a few little bits out!

Cheers!

Oil temp gauge or oil pressure gauge??
oil temp gauge requires a sender screwed into the oil pan, and then a wire connecting it to the gauge, plus a 12V+ power lead and earth lead,
Oil pressure is the same but the sender is screwed into the back of the head.

Hey leadfoot,

I do beleive it is a oil pressure gauge, but I can confirm tonight.. but I am about 95% sure!

Is it possible if the sender unit is not there on my car? And if so, if it a big job to fit one to the back of the head?

Cheers!

There is a sender/sensor screwed into the distributor adapter (lump that the distributor is inserted into that is bolted onto the rear of the cylinder head.

Cars that only have the warnng light on the instrument panel have a single sender, and cars with both the warning light and the pressure gauge on the center console will have a dual sender.

Look at the sender on the rear of the cylinder head, and if you have the single sender, you will need to buy the duel sender, and simply screw it in inplace of the single sender. If you have the dual sender, then you will need to check the wiring, and find out what is not there or not connected or defective.

If/when you need to know how to hook-up the wires look here -

Chrenan has a nice pic of the dual purpose oil pressure gauge/light sender there too.
We'll hope yours is already there and with wires attached because they're tough to access.

Hey guys,

I do have the one with the single sender, and there are also no wires anywhere near the gauge for it to connect to.

I dont mind the challenge of getting it rigged up

Does anyone have a dual sensor that they dont need?

Cheers!!
Mark

Sparky, this part is a major PITA to install. You may wish to consider a new one. . .
