what all is needed to swap a 016/9 type into a '78 924.
I'm pretty sure that's waht I have, it looks like a 4 speed but, the end cover is a bit different and it's a little longer. Also, where are the ID numbers on these? The coupler shaft fits on both to.

It is essentially a bolt in.

fairly easy upgrade, unless you hit some stuck or rusty parts... good too have two people to stick the tranny back in , it can be a little hard to manipulate and get lined up right, but not impossible for one person to do with a decent jack and some patience.
you will loose a bit of low end torque, but you gain it back on the high end. the 5spd feels quite different than the four speed, take a bit of getting used too
make sure your donor tranny is from an n/a 924, turbo and early 944 unit has a larger shaft and wont fit unless you make an adaptor coupler
