So I'm in the middle of dropping my tranny.

Following Haynes I've made it to step 7 which is when you push down on the foam stuff and push the linkage forward towards the engine compartment for a foot.

I am pretty sure that it needs to go forward a foot so that it will come free from the "passthrough" in the transmission.

My problem is that I cannot push the linkage far enough forward. It is about 2 inches from being clear of the transmission. I pushed and heaved for a good 30 minutes but it still won't go any further forward.

Any tips on getting it further forward?

(My last resort would be to continue dropping the tranny and try to manuever it back the 2 inches before lowering it)

Thanks in advance.

I just got done dropping, fixin and re-installing the trans myself.

when you get ready to pull it slide it back as far as it will go then lower it a little then further back ect. ect.. It will take a little bit of "wrestling" to get it in and out. A transmission jack is infinitely preffered to a floor jack.

Be carefull, teh long shaft will try to slide forward when you re-install the coupler. I had to install the coupler to the long shaft first, then slide the coupler/longsahft rearward untill it is in the right spot.

make sure that everything is free so that the tube can come down as far as is possible, if the tube isnt lowered you cannot move the bar forward enough
