|

If you have ever taken apart a 944 spark plug wire, you know that the wire unscrews from both the distributer boot, and the spark plug boot. At either end of the wire is a brass cap that crimps over the wire and protruding from it is a threaded nipple that screws into the boot.
I am looking for a source of those wire caps. I was going to replace the wires on my 924S, but noticed upon examination of the wire that the whole thing dissassemled as I have described. If I can find a source of those wire ends, replacing the wires will only cost me a few dollars. My boots are in pristine shape, but my wires are cracked. I can get wire from a local auto parts store for .50 a foot.
If you want to know what I am talking about, take the spark plug end of your plug wire and pull the little rubber boot back from the plastic elbow where the wire enters the elbow. Then unscrew the wire. It comes out in about 3.5 turns. If a source can be located for the threaded ends, it will greatly increase our options for wire replacement. For instance you can cheaply have any color you want providing you find the wire. DustandSons carries black. I am sure you can get other types on the net. |
