Hello fellow porsche owners I just reacently purchased a 1977 porsche 924 non turbo model with a 5 speed for 600 bux. It has been sitting for a long time the previous owner could not get it to run after he installed a new fuel pump. I drained the old gas and put five gallons of fresh 91 in and messed with the ground on the fuel pump and presto the fuel was flowin! The starter was burned up so I replaced that as well, I cranked it over and over and it would just backfire through the intake so I loosened the dizzy and advanced the timing a tad since the previous owner had messed wih the it and unhooked the vac advance ,so I had my buddy rick turn the key and I held the throttle open a little and it fired up and ran smoothly for about ten seconds and died then we could not get it to start again just backfire , I pulled the plugs and it was flooded. I checked the cam timing and it was about 4 teeth off so we set the motor to top dead center re aligned the dizzy with number 1 and lined the cam timing mark up and it still just backfires and floods out
