Well as luck would have it , I just get the engine ripped out of my car and get a message that I'm posted to Esquimalt BC for 6 months !! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH.......I'm gonna be totally carless for the time I'm there and my 924 restoration is going to be stalled. got a message yesterday that I was supposed to be there today !!! Someone dropped the ball. Anyway, looks like I'll be there by the end of the month. Any of you BC guys know of some good Porsche parts places that I might be able to check out and mail stuff back home from ?? I might as well make my time out there productive as far as my rebuild goes. If I'm able to get the parts together and shipped to the rebuilder at least the engine will be ready when I get back in Dec and I can drop it in the car at that time (not that it'll do me much good until summer ) but at least it'll be ready to go for next year. Sigh........I'm literally living by the old saying "suck it up sailor and carry on " right now. Oh well.....it's only 6 months.

That's gotta suck!..I hated being gone for 1 month ..let alone 6 months. You'll miss the entire driving season....opps I'm not trying to rub it in

What will you be doing in Esquimalt? Your not sailing on any missions from there?

Nothing as exciting as missions (not that they're ever terribly exciting but the pays good ) I'm going on a course. I knew it would come eventually but you normally have a few months notice. I got the message yesterday and was supposed to be in BC today !!! Not freakin likely ! Just a pain to get everything organized with my house and telling my daughter and all that.
On the bright side the guy rebuilding my engine has no problem getting it done and keeping it while I'm away and even offered to help me put it in when I get back , so that's a bonus. I'm also flying out. If the car was working and I had the time I'd have drivin out. Gonna suck being a pedestrian for 6 months. My girlfriend made me drive her Saturn 5 speed last night (so I won't forget how ) somehow it just wasn't the same lol . Anyway, might be some time spent parts shopping and I'll save a crap load of cash so my whole restoration should come out quite nice . And via the power of cheap long distance and the internet I'll be able to keep in contact with the engine guy and buy parts etc. , and I certainly won't be there pestering him to get it done fast . And it should be all ready to rock for next year at least !! Gotta always look at the bright side !!

You're bitching about going from Nova Scotia to Victoria for a 6 month paid vacation in summer ?

I agree.....although the past few winters have been pretty good !!! no snow to speak of, I think this year we had a better winter than BC !! I'm looking forward to it tho, I've never been to BC . My brother was posted in Comox for about 10 years and he loved it !! I'm gonna make the most of it while I'm there regardless. Just sucks that I won't have a car. I might try and pick up a beater for a few hundred while I'm there and pass it on to someone when I leave , beats taken the bus !!

The best place I had found so far was BowWow, but they went out of business a couple months ago. I've yet to find a place with reasonable prices and a reasonable stock of parts. I've been loath to go to the delership, but that's always a possibility I suppose.

I took photos and I tried to post em up on the board. I couldn't post em tho and I haven't really had a chance to sit down and learn how. I have a cardomain site and I'll post them up there. It's hard to see the damage as my digital camera sucks (it's only 1.3 mp ) but anyway, you might be able to get a look. Just look up andys924 and that'll be me.
