|

I had wanted to move/change the overflow tank on my '79 NA to make it a little easier to work on the motor. I was wondering if anyone else has moved or changed their set up with this and what you used for this? I thought I had seen someone use some type of catch can - but I could not find one that had the radiator cap like ours. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.B _________________ 1979 924 n/a

alot of people relocate the ign control module, and use the 944 over flow tank. _________________ 3 928s, |

thanks Lizard
I am not familiar with the 944 set up, it sounds like it is placed in front of the driver's side wheel.? Do you know how easily it fits or if there are any adaptations that need done besides hoses? I will try to find some pictures of the 944 set up.
thanks very much

The 944 tank mounts higher-up on the front of the wheel well and attaches via the fender bolts as far as I know.
I didn't think you'd need to relocate the ignition trigger/module - for clearance anyway.. -Or do some relocate it just to eliminate possible spills on it while refilling the coolant? _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Thanks Smoothie
I will probably move the ignition just to be safe - I'm working on locating a reasonably priced tank - performance's last price (unless I looked at it wrong) was $89. Not exactly the price that's goig to get me to run out and buy one right away.
Thanks again - as always - the information that all of you provide on this forum is extremely helpful and appreciated.

it is needed to be moved for clearance I believe,
the unit is water proof so no need to worry about spilling water on it. _________________ 3 928s, |

Another issue with using the 944 tank is the placement of the air box on the 924. I've got a couple of 944 tanks here and wanted to put one in my wife's 924. A quick check showed the 924 air box would have to be dealt with. Anyone got any pointers on that? And I don't really want to use a K&N filter. _________________ '88 944 Auto - may or may not resurrect |
