Well I removed my turbo to do an inspection on it. I found that the turbine side of the turbo has some problems. I don't know if it ingested something or if it was metal fatigue due to excessive heat or what. The fact is the turbine needs to be replaced. The bearings and seals are still good as far as I can tell with a micrometer. So the question is should I do the rebuild myself, send it out to be rebuilt, or just buy a new cartridge and be done with is? I know some of you on this board have used Majestic turbo. Rasta comes to mind off hand and if you read this maybe you can send a criteque of there work. There are a couple of turbo shops near me and I will probably get in contact with them to find out what there take is. Anyway I would really like to do the work myself but the dynamic balancing is a problem. I just don't have the equipment for it. What do you think?

A turbo is no fun to replace on a 931. Having to do it twice is even less fun!

Well I guess the turbo made up my mind for me. After doing some clean up and reinspection it again I found out what happened to the turbine. The hotside housing is cracked. I theorize that because of where the crack is it expanded when heated into the turbine wheel. Regardless this turbo is shot. Now comes the search for a new one.
