What insurance groups are the 924/924S/931/944 in? None of the websites I've found go back far enough. _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red

I don't know. The only insurance I have ever used here in the UK is classic car insurance, which is far cheaper and never mentions the group in the documents. _________________ 1983 - 924 (185K miles) - not mint

^^^^^^^^^^ what he said.
From what i've read, 931, CGT and S are all 19 and 944s are 20. Bear in mind that there are sub groups too- did you know that a lotus elise is group 20? how rediculous is that! (same applies for the original 944)

That's actually kinda funny, I guess I won't plan on moving to the UK if they think our cars are so dangerous and such. _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red

I'm pretty sure Frizzell have my 1978 n/a as being in group 17.
Edit: Insurance isn't bad on the 924 but you have got to shop around and skip most of the major mainstream insurance companies. I'm covered fully comprehensive, car kept on a driveway, no restrictions on use or mileage and no silly clauses on specific security additions. My no-claims-bonus is protected and all for under £250 per year. I can find classic insurance with a bunch of restrictions for about £150 a year but I prefer my current insurers package. I'm 36yrs old btw. _________________ Mars Red '78 Euro 924 n/a

Group 17 is correct
Ive had mine on classic insurance until last month when i took it off road due to work commitments. Just under £300 for me 21year old at the time i took the insurance out, fully comp, roadside assist, agreed value and return of car after a wreck. |

"Tibby" my 924 is being retired as daily driver this week in favour of a freelander I've just bought; mainly due to the weather but 24K a year in a near-quarter-century-old car is just cruelty to old classics.... But I digress...
What do you chaps advise as the likely best deal on classic insurance for the beloved old porker?? I'm thinking about the terms and conditions of cover as well as cost here. |
