Just saying hello. I recently purchased an 87 924S, Black with Beige and Black interior. 130,00 miles. Completely stock. Original paint and interior in pretty good condition. No damge. $3200.00. I am the fourth owner. Had a front of engine service done right away. GULP! Runs a little warmer than I think is normal but no issues yet. Temp guage on or around the third mark most of the time. Fans cycle on and off without issue. I have been reading many of the comments while I try to get up to speed on understanding these cars. I am a long time British car owner. TR3 since 1975. Any sage words of advice for a newbie? I'll get a picture or two up soon.

Hi Lynn,

It is a wonder the interior is not gone yet. Those cars had thin material and wore right away. At least mine did 88 924S.
Nice cars and fast enough.
As for the hot running try another temp sender. Cheap enough. It is on the right of the radiator if you are facing the engine. I think.

Good luck.

The first thing that I would do to try bleeding the air out of the cooling system a couple of times. Air bubbles could be causing problems with cooling.

Next, I would check the temperature rating of the thermostat.

Very often, the replacements thermostats that are installed during front of engine services are rated at a higher opening temp than the original, so the cars run hotter.

Congrats on the new car, hopefully yours is in better shape than mine was when I got it =P. I've also got the same problem with the temp, they kick on and off just fine, just at the wrong temp; just another excuse to play in the garage, I guess.

And actually Vince, the interior on my '87 924s is in fantastic shape, only problem is the cracked dash, and I don't think any car escaped those.
