Does anyone have any measurements of the hatch struts? I am looking for compressed length, stroke length, extended length, rod end pin hole dia and base end ball stud dia? _________________ Rob

Not sure, but you won't find any generic struts that have the electrical connections for the rear defrost.
You can pick up a pair of stock struts with the connections for $60 on ebay. _________________ 1980 931S

There is also an electrical connection that turns on the cargo light when the hatch is open.

You better appreciate this! Went out to the shed twince with a flashlight to get the struts and a Schieblehre.
Anyway, here are the measurements:
Holy crap, try compressing one of these and take a measurement at the same time!
...
Okay, never mind. I can't compress it. If I slip, it'll rip my balls off.
I'll give you the other measurements:
Length of body of strut (black part) - 14 1/8", including the plastic part that holds the ball
Extended length - 26 1/2"
Length of Rod (including plastic part that holds the ball) - 12 5/16"
Both ball pin holes are exactly 1cm (when you measure in line with the
rod)
Hope this helps,
Jens
PS: the measurements could be 1/16" off. Measured in the dark. |

I could say so much...
At least you didn't endanger your balls.
