Does the 924 have a good squish area and optimized quench?
I say no on the squish and yes on the quench. But im just guessing. _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.

I thought it was funny when I first read it also. But the reason I ask is because if your develeping a base advance table it works into the calculation

Save your money. Get your hands on Euro pistons and put them in for a 15hp gain. Get it running right and you will be happy. I don't think we can make our cars that much better with what we have.
As you know I have done everything except putting in a turbo.
hey, I could be wrong. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

I don't think the n/a engines have *any* squish area. It's been a while since I had one open, but from Chrenan's pic -
You can see that the pistons are pretty far recessed into the cylinders. With the flat head, you would need a piston with a 60cc+ dish to get any squish with a reasonable CR. _________________ 1980 931S

Nick is correct. I only chimed in to say squish and quench are the same thing. It is the area where the piston and the head surface come close together. Good quench is usually considered under .040". The NA piston sits a full .260" from the head!
