Hey it has been some time since I bleed the system 924s. When you rev the engine up (cap off) and bleeder plug out... then let the revs fall... should there be any back flow into the coolant bottle?

See it would make sence to me that the water pump is sucking harder and thus causes a slight vacuume in the radiator... and when releaved back flows into bottle.

Just do not want to hear some thing like... head gasket.

Have done this work in the past and could do it again. But would rather avoid it if not needed.

thanks

Eric

that is normal to have a higher level in the bottle when engine is idling, rather than revving.

Bleed the system with the coolant tank cap on tight for best results.

Yeah I normally do that but I wanted to watch the coolant and see if I had cleared the system out.

Alas there is still crap in it. I need to do it again. At least the oil is clean and clear now. Nothing worse than a car sitting with old coolant, gas and oil in it for two years.

Oh wait I know what is worse. One that had the rear hatch smashed and then was filled with leaves, bees, mold, water and spiders!

At least most of it is where it should have been now. Just alternator, coolant flush and brakes left.

Weeeee!
