Anyone familiar with this bodywork?
Is it aftermarket or factory?

Rear valance is made by BBS.
Actually BBS made the whole nice spoiler kit for 924, I have the rear valance and side skirts laying around that I want to make a molds of.
Unfortunately, friend of mine from whom I bought them crashed front end and destroyed front valance..... _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Wow, that's some serious rice....
Porsche would never put anything like that on their cars. |

Thanks guys.
Really? Rice?
I've considered myself more of a purist. Even my 914 is mostly stock.
I just had the impression that the 924s lacked some finishing touches. I hate looking at the rear end and seeing all the exhaust, etc. And the US bumper is well - a US bumper!
Did the Euro models get a rear valance? Any pics?
Raceboy - do you have a web address for BBS kits?

No offense, but if I saw that car drive down the road, I would think it was an RX-7 with a $400 bodykit, which it really is. The rear valance isn't a bad design look wise, but is much too big, IMO. If you look at german tuning companies like Techart, etc, they always make the cars look like they were almost stock, or if the bodykit was an option from the factory.
On the 924, the front end clip looks decent, not great to me, the rear valance looks like it was taken off a bigger car, and I can see splinters in those side skirts, so I'm guessing they painted over those 2x4s. The whole kit looks like it was just put on afterwards, not like it was integrated into the car, which is what would make it look so good. And don't we give all those Ricers a hard time because they drive 2 Liters around with wings on the back? (and I'm all for it )
I'm Sorry. Really.
Just my 2 cents, you can all Flame me now. |

This BBS kit isn't made for years by now.
That rear valance is similar to the 951/S2 rear one. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

No flaming necessary JB.
I'm just pursuing ideas. Just don't seem to see much around for finishing up the 924S, as its unlikely I'll be sending it over to someone like Techart.
Any other ideas, sources?

The only one I can think of from the top of my head right now is DP Motorsport, from Germany. Here's the link. They only have the kit for the 944, but it might fit on a 924. If you are interested, you could send them an e-mail, they should speak english, if not I can do it for you, but I'm going to be very busy for the next week (trying to get my car done before school starts).

Go to "Produkte," then "DP44," then "Karosserie," then choose one of the pictures. First picture is a rear skirt, then front skirt, race mirror, spoiler lip, side skirts.
I really like the side skirts, and they should fit on a 924. The 2nd last picture, (the lip) says it also fits on the "old" 944, but the 924S has the 924 spoiler, not the 83 on spoiler, right? So I guess that wouldn't fit. Where it says "Frontschuerze," it says that it is to modernize the look of the old 944, and fits 2.5, 2.7, and 2.5S models. So might be an upgrade for your car. If you need anything translated, just say it, or you can go to google.

I have to agree that the rear end isnt very pretty. I dont like how you can see the spare tire well. I dont like the euro valances, because with the US bumpers, it looks really cluttered and stuff. I think it is those rubber molding pieces one the sides. (the ones that go between the body and the bumper)

Actually considering that the rear wing is a 968 knockoff and the rear piece is a 951 knockoff, I'd say that Porsche actually would put something like that on from the factory. The side skirts don't look like they belong though. The air dam isn't offensive to me in the least, and it's functional. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

Hopefully not on their 120hp entry model. |

Thanks Jens,
Those pieces aren't bad. THe side skirts are more subtle then the other kit I found. They'd have to be tweaked though for the 924S without the flares. Same with the front & rear pieces. But its a start.
I checked out the GT pieces - but those are even more radical I think.
Maybe the best solution to dress up a 924 is to buy a 944?

No problem. I forgot about the flares of a 944. I wasn't sure if the bumpers would fit or not. You're right, just get a 944, lowered, and some wide tires and it's gonna look way better for less money. Good luck.
