| Very excited as I have just bought another 924! I owned one a couple of years ago and loved it, I have been looking for an excuse to get another. My Beetle Cabrio goes off the road for winter so I have bought a cheap 1981 924 instead! I haven't collected it yet, hopefully Thursday. |

Good for you! Are you sure you didn't make a mistake? Just kidding!!!
What kind of condition is it in? Does it run or is it more of a fixer upper? I hope you found one that's not too bad. Best of luck,
Jens |

Picked it up today, bodywork is solid but a bit scruffy, the exhaust blows and the engine sounds a bit tappety, apart from that, the split seats and cracked dash it's OK!
Got to get used to that long view over the bonnet again! |

So, typical 924 then? heh. Tappety, split seats, and cracked dash are like features.

| I've now given it a service and it runs and sounds much better. I am also going to change the cam belt, just to be safe. |

Nice one Stew. A great winter hack I reckon. Does that mean no more Bug for the winter? no more VZi either? lol _________________ Pete

Ha ha! Busted! Are you on VZi too? To be honest I don't post on there all that often these days, not on the general chat anyway. The tech stuff and classifieds are still interesting though.
The cab isn't much fun in the winter plus it isn't galvanized so the salt wouldn't be kind. |

I pop in once in a while, but rarely post either. It gets me down at times TBH.
Wise decision I think, to lay your bug up for the winter, and just think how much more fun it will be when it comes out again next spring!
Still lots of fun to be had over the winter with your new Porka, especially since most of it is galvanised and so not as fussy about the weather.
Is it a daily or just a winter toy?
If you fancy something a little closer to home once in a while there is a UK forum.
