Blast! I walked past Smith's yesterday and thought about going in to see if the mag was any good this month. It had a good article on the 924 a few months ago so I normally keep an eye on it.
Will have to make another trip then! Thanks for the tip. _________________ 1978 924na |

Kinda OT: I just read the story on the Sportomatic transmission... very interesting!
Although I'd heard of it before and knew basically what it was, I had no idea about the technical details. Fascinating concept, a (sorta) regular manual gearbox with a vacuum-servo operated clutch and a torque converter. And they made it back in 1967!
Reminds me of a funny story...
Back when I was a kid, me and my mate were having an argument about the Tiptronic transmission (which was new at the time). I can't remember exactly what the argument was about but to prove some kinda point to my mate, I ended up calling the Porsche dealership and asking if you could swap a Tiptronic transmission into a '73 Carrera RS... It was the only old Porsche I could think of at time! The bloke at the dealership said, yeah, you could but why on earth would you want to..? And did I have any idea how much those cars were worth?! I think I sorta mumbled, "Oh... OK, thanks" and hung up.
Ah, the things you do when you're a kid and you just don't know any better, eh? _________________ '80 924 Turbo |
