Is it possible to remove the valve cover with just removing the bolts? Or does the dizzy need to be removed, adjusted to allow more room. Mine seems to be caught on the dizzy vacuum advance part.
Thanks,

The tubes are not the problem, where they connect on the dizzy is the problem.

Yes you do not need to remove the dissy...
but in you case you may need to rotate it, in which case you will need to reset you timing upon refitting of the cover, it sounds like you sparks plug wires may be in the wrong holes in the dissy cap, not out of order though...

Like leadfoot says you can do it without removing the dizzy, but I reckon it's easier if you do. Re-timing the ignition is no hassle and is a regular job anyway.

I've never had to remove or even pivot the distributor to pull the valve cover - I wonder if your distributor is clocked incorrectly on the head? You know, the way the distributor housing can be bolted on in two positions, resulting in two different angles... one more upright and closer to the hood, the other more laid-over...

more laid over,
if it is in the more upright position it will hit the hood and decrease the life.
