|
|
I'm in the process of replacing the dim, dim, dim dash lights with something a little brighter (2W vs 1.2W). The light in the tacho is easy as the wedge just pops out - its the ones in the fuel, temp etc cluster that seems tricker. Each light is in its own platsic carrier, and I've tried to remove the lamp without much luck. Does anyone know how to remove the light from these carriers?
Cheers,
Gavin. _________________ Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about Porsche!

if I remember correctly they should just wiggle out. They're just a press fit. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

Ahh, yes. Turns out the first one I tried was harder than the rest.
Thanks Peter!

... And of course trying to get new bulbs *into* the carriers seems even more impossible than removing the originals... I have a pack of 10 new bulbs (Narva brand) and I can't get any of them to go back into any of the old carriers. Comparing the old and new bulbs reveals very very little in terms of any difference. Anyone got any tips on these little buggers?? I've pushed them as hard as I dare, but they just dont want to go in.

It's been a long time since I replaced the dash lights and while I recall having a devil of a time getting some of them out of the holders, I don't recall it being that difficult to get them back in. _________________ -Stu

I've all but given up on replacing the lights in behind the fuel and temp gauges... they simply won't go into the carriers, I've pushed until I had big red dents in my fingers, and then some more! I've got the rest of them done no problem (ie tacho, speedo, volts etc).
I can't understand why they'd use 4 different ways of securing the same bulbs into place... crazy.
