My AC went out the other day and I looked at the compressor with the A/C on and the clutch doesnt seem to be engaging. it ticks maybe 1/4" every few seconds. The question is "How difficult is an AC Clutch to change?" I see them on ebay new for $50 and I am 90% sure this is the problem.

Pull the wires to the low pressure switch (located at the drier/sight glass) and connect them together and see if it runs. If it does, don't do it for long....

No need to guess.. To check the clutch, apply 12V+ to its' (+) lead (black/white wire) and ground the other (brown), - if it clicks and you see some slight movement, cancel the order. -And check the black/white wire to the pressure switch - obviously it should show 12V+ with AC switched on.

I put 12v to it a couple days ago to no avail. Clutch is here and hopefully i can get it installed today. Just have to get a pulley removal tool. At least it wasnt a leak in the A/C system.
