Long day, 10 hrs (including BS'ing), but she's all done now... new belts, new seals, new water pump and t-stat, oil cooler seals, and such.

Gee, these engines really are smooth - when you time the balance shafts properly! They were more than one tooth off! Arrgh.

I was pretty happy with the tensioning procedure, went pretty smoothly IMO.

The oil cooler seals were a bitch - had to install the oil cooler 3 times before I got everything lined up properly. Glad I did it though; when I went in there, I found it was already leaking coolant, as it turned out. Needed it done, I just wasn't aware of it.

Still, as nice as it runs, I'm glad I won't have to do that too often!

Also put new sunroof gears in - sure nice to have that roof to pop open in the summer! Major improvement over the 2.0L cars with the manual sunroof, much better airflow...

Welcome to the joys of the S!

You will be surprised how quickly 3 years will go by and you will get to start all over.....

I'm facing that now...

Yeah...I got pretty good at R&Ring my 944's oil cooler last summer...

The engines in these cars are so much more refined than the Audi units, but I have days when I like the 924s simplicity.
