From what I've been reading, upgrade to a 951 unit. I believe they have additional cooling capacity to accomodate the additional heat generated by the turbo. Another possibility is just having it recored, perhaps with more efficient material, ie., aluminum or copper.

What do you mean by better?

More rugged?

Heavier (stronger) construction?

Longer lasting?

Better cooling?

I bought the "AutoTechnik" (Performance Product's House Brand) 924 radiatior for my 81 924, and I am happy with it. They also make one for the 944, but you need to check with them to make sure that it will fit in a 924S.

All copper construction, including the tanks, so no more probelms with the tank seals blowing out like on the factory radiators. Multipass, with tubes that actually goes through holes cut in the fins to increase cooling. $399, but wait for one of their frequent 20% Off Sales, if you can.

Better cooling is needed for hot days on the track (DEs).

You may need to go with an externally mounted oil cooler. As I recall, your engine has a water radiator sitting in an oil bath that would put quite a strain on the cooling system under track conditions. 924RACR can probably give you more insight here as he has dealt with this on his 924.

My '88 had a 951 radiator put in it for track days by the previous owner. It is a little deeper so the lower mounts had to be extended about 1.5" and the lower middle air dam mounts need to be extended too or it flaps against the bottom of the radiator. It seems to keep my 3L pretty cool for very little fabrication.

How about an aluminum one Paul?

Custom made replacement for the 944/924S.

Needless to say it is much more efficient than the stock unit.

Being used in all of our race car builds.

No brainer.

I assume it's an exact fit and uses the stock fans and hoses?

How much and where do I buy one?

Sorry, yes it is an exact fit, and uses the stock everything including your fan sensor.

They retail for $399.24 and shipping to WI will be an additional $25

You can PM me if you wish to purchase.

you might also consider upgrading the stock fan to a Spal unit, you can change the fan to mount infront of the rad and free up some more room in front of the engine.

I am doing this to my 928s, I am using a Spal fan rated at 2400CFM pusher so it mounts in front of the rad and I only really need 2000 CFM MAX for cooling a 928 so if you got a similar fan you would see a much quicker cool off.

part # I went with is 30102450 iirc. pusher 2400CFM straight blade, 16"

I'm in!

Looks like a great radiator, too bad no one will be able to see it once it's installed!

Hi, I live in Poland and it is almoust impossible to buy radiator for 924 S Porsche. So I cut every cost I had and bought rad from Porsche. 370 Euro. And now I have info who is making this rad for Porsche. Anyone knows Langerer & Reich? I think they are today with Modine. On casting I have LR markings ( the one on my car has the same) but there is sign Modine 944.106.031.03 and anoyher number. I called rad guy in Warsaw And they have Modine rad for my car for 200 Euro.
